    The 2012 New Jersey Folk Festival was held on the 28th of April. It featured a variety of well-known and new acts. Singer-songwriter Roger Dietz was honored at the festival. Jim Albertson was also be on hand to tell stories about life and sing a few songs.

    The US Environmental Protection Agency has decided to award over $400,000 worth of grants to NJ and New York businesses. This money is earmarked to help fund projects that protect the environment and the health of employees and consumers.

    Grammy nominated performer Michael Feinstein is set to perform in New Jersey with a 5 piece band. This performance will take place at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. While the event will be attended by many visitors, New Jersey locals from towns like Berlin will also be there.

    In the past decade, violence in schools has become more prevalent. Thankfully, New Jersey schools are trying to address the issue of schoolyard bullying though the state's 2002 policy against harassment, intimidation and bullying. In particular, legislators are trying to combat dating violence.

    A New Jersey Senate panel will vet a bill that would allow horse racing betting sites in a limited number of bars and restaurants. This move would essentially create off-track wagering sites.

    The chain bookstore has decided to change its plans for its new store in Mays Landing. The store had planned to use this location to sell and buy used books. However, due to customer feedback this New Jersey branch will sell brand new books.
